Nail wrap review by em.olts – We Tried: Nayls

(Review article extracted from em.olts)

We Tried: Nayls

Hello there lovelies!

We’re super excited for today’s post, because we’re doing a review on Nayls, a nail wrap brand in Singapore.

Yes, those are two different hands. Kiki and I had a blast figuring out how to do the nail wraps, and the both of us honestly feel like it’s really easy to do. We got the hang of it really quickly and didn’t waste any of the stickers at all. The entire process is pretty intuitive, to be honest with you, and we really had fun with these nail wraps from nayls.co (https://nayls.co/).

Bit of a backstory, both of us don’t do our nails at home. We usually go to shops to do Gelish nails. And the both of us are pretty rough people, so we bang our nails against things pretty often, hence why Classic polish isn’t the best choice for us.

I first heard of nail wraps quite some time back, but always thought they would be a hassle to do, so I never bothered getting myself some. Kiki’s the same as I, we would rather pay a heck-ton of money to sit there and have experienced people doing it for us.

But… It’s safe to say that we’re converts.

Because this is honestly too easy. Like… who needs to pay S$80 dollars for pretty nails, sitting at a salon for three hours when you can just slap ‘em on at home by yourself, at the godly price of S$12.90 within half an hour?
emolts nayls nail wrap review giveaway set

This is the set that we were given. The nail wraps here are called Sottsass. Each nail wrap set you buy comes with a nail file (to file your nails), stick (to push the wraps in place) and a set of instructions! We would recommend for you to buy the gel topcoat from them as well, because that’ll ensure that the nail wraps stay in place longer. And some gel topcoats (if they’re from other brands) might not work with these nail wraps, so be careful! The wraps might shrink if used with a different gel topcoat.

To begin, we first applied a coat of nail strengthener (S$12.90), called the Nayls Buff Up.

Nayls Buf Up - Nail Strengthener

The strengthener immediately gives your nails a glorious sheen, which I feel is wearable, even without the nail wraps on top of it. The Nayls Buff Up helps to protect and repair your nails. All those who put nail polish on pretty frequently, y’all should get this! It dries within 15 seconds (yes, it really does, Kiki and I were shook), so you don’t have to worry about smooshing it against something and ruining the coat.

Following that, we just… removed the clear protective film and stuck on the nail wraps. Like so…

I was using my knee as a table because I’m a big fan of scoliosis. Just kidding, it provided the most stability. But it was so easy to stick on (and don’t worry about minor mistakes, because you have a stick to push all the air bubbles out). But it stuck easily and was super easy to gauge as well.

Like this! The stick is flat on one end, so you can easily guide all the air bubbles out. Afterward, we filed off the remainder of the nail sticker (perpendicular to your nail, so 90 degrees).

Just like the above picture! It filed down easily, and it was easy to get rid of the remainder. After filing down the leftovers, we applied the Gloss Gel Top Coat given (S$12.90) before baking it under the UV light.

Both of us had never did Gelish on our own before, so the mini-UV light lamp was a pretty glorious and intriguing experience.

If you notice – both Kiki and I have different nail shapes. Hers are more squarish, while mine are more oval. But the nail wraps fit our fingers pretty well still, with the exception of my thumb. Nothing a little scissors magic can’t fix, though!

Okay, so since we have to see how durable they are, we’ll be coming back in 10 days or so to tell you about how well they stayed on our nails! Instagram filters, I thank ye for thy easy time and date-keeping.

Day 7 Check-In (5th January 2021, Tuesday)
emolts nayls nail wrap review Day 7

I don’t think there’s any way to… cheat the time and date stamp on the Instagram filter, so… you can see that my nails grew out a little bit, and excuse the hangnails beside my fingers, I have a really bad habit of chewing on them whenever I get nervous. But they’re still holding on really well, I’m super impressed. Usual classic nail polishes only last me about (ahem, 2 hours, because I inevitably bonk them against something) a week, so I’m really impressed as to how well this is holding up (all for $12.90, the inner auntie in me is ferociously screaming happily).

I will say though. On my right hand, my hands got itchy, so I plucked off the gel topcoat on my thumb and decided to leave it as such to see how it fares without the gel coat and honestly, just get the gel topcoat. This is a comparison between my thumb and Kiki’s.

I think you can obviously tell which has the gel topcoat and which doesn’t. Mine’s a little bit grey and scuffed at the edges… So yeah. Get the gel-topcoat. It seriously makes sense to do so.

Day 9 Check-In (7th January 2021, Thursday)

Went several rounds desperately plucking and tugging out staplers to recycle paper at work. Thumb without topcoat is struggling to stay alive. Index finger with gel topcoat is living her best life. I’m impressed. Please excuse the weird chicken claw hand, wanted to show the difference between my thumb and the rest of the fingers.

Day 10 Check-In (8th January 2021, Friday)
emolts nayls nail wrap review Day 10

And there we have it, folks. Nail wraps, lasting you a solid 10 days.

Both Kiki and I were gushing about the nail wraps, and the both of us agreed that we would give it a solid 5 out of 5. We love the convenience of it all, how long it lasts (with a gel topcoat), and the designs from Nayls are pretty unique as well. There’s some minor chipping at the edge of the nail, but it’s barely noticeable, and not obvious at all.

Nayls is also providing an exclusive promo code for our lovely followers. Enjoy SGD$5 off for first time customers by entering ‘EMOLTS5OFF’ when you check out. This promotion is only valid till 15 February 2021 and is not applicable for any collaboration sets.

Now excuse me, because I’m off to buy more.

Till next time, lovelies!
